Cyber Security 101: It All Starts With The User

In the non-profit sector, the responsibility of leadership to protect the data of both their donors and the people and organizations they serve makes cybersecurity an urgent priority. The most secure organizations don’t just avoid breaches – they prepare for them.

The Cybersecurity Series offers participants an aerial view of cybersecurity and some of its main components, then lasers in on specific topics. The goal of this series is provide education and encourage action.

In “Cybersecurity 101: It All Starts With the User”, participants will learn about different cyber threats and how they infect and potentially harm computers and other systems on the network. The presenter will then discuss how proactive users can help protect their non-profit from potential threats and what users should do if their systems are infected.

At the end of the presentation, attendees will be given a template for Computer Usage and Social Media policies that they can then customize and implement in their organizations.

TRAINER BIO:
Joe Willard is the Sales and Marketing Manager for Sirkdot. From 2009 to 2012, while living in Lincoln, he organized the annual benefit concert “Labor of Love”, which raised money for organizations that help women who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Currently, he lives in Bellevue with his wife and daughter.

Sirkdot started in 2010. They specialize in providing tech support and on-site assistance to small businesses and non-profits with 50 employees or less.
