SERVICE TO YOUTH AWARD 

The Nebraska Juvenile Justice Association gives a Service to Youth Award out each year at our annual conference in May.  Our conference pulls together over 250 youth workers from across the state of Nebraska.  

The criteria for the Service to Youth Award is:

NJJA selects an individual who has made significant impact on youth’s lives.  The recipient can be anyone in Nebraska who:
A)    Exemplifies dedication and leadership skills in juvenile justice or human service;
B)    Provides a positive role model to youth;
C)    Exhibits good moral judgment; and
D)    Demonstrates commitment to community service within his or her community

2009 Service to Youth Award Winner

Sherri Marchman-Day of Families CARE in Kearney NE
 

Sherri Marchman-Day was the 2009 winner of the NJJA's Service to Youth Award.  Anne Rohan, Executive Director of Families Care in Kearney, NE wrote:  "Sherri exemplifies dedication and leadership in prevention programs and human service.  Sherri takes the position of Y4 (Youth for Youth) and Community Outreach Coordinator seriously, with drive and passion.  Sherri demonstrates commitment to community service through her work performance and her personal ethics.  Sherri was recently asked to take on a new position title that is more inclusive of her work with the families-Youth & Community Outreach Coordinator. 

Sherri began as Youth Coordinator with her primary duty as working with the youth groups.  Today, one year later she is taking on outreach to the communities in an effort to educate more communities about Families CARE and services offered as well as facilitating the support groups.

On behalf of the Nebraska Juvenile Justice Association I present Sheri marchmann-Day with the 2009 Service to youth award for his dedication and leadership in the field of Juvenile Justice.

 

2008 Service to Youth Award Winner

Alberto “Beto” Gonzales of Omaha Boys & Girls Club 

Beto was nominated by the Douglas County Juvenile Assessment Center for all of the hard work he does in the Omaha Metro area.  Shawne Coonfare stated in the nomination that “Alberto “Beto” Gonzales has been a force of hope and inspiration for youth and families in Omaha for many years.”
